Viewpoints
ASTURIAS
- Mirador de Los Canónigos (Municipal area of Cangas de Onís): this viewpoint is on the Los Lagos road at the 1.5 kilometre point. Views of the Covadonga Basilica and the surrounding area.
- Mirador de la Reina (Municipal area of Cangas de Onís): this viewpoint is on the Los Lagos road at the 6.5 kilometre point. Views of the villages in the municipalities of Onís and Cangas de Onís, the Cuera mountains and on clear days, you can even see the Bay of Biscay. There are information boards at the viewpoint.
- Mirador del Rey (Municipal area of Cangas de Onís): this viewpoint is at the end of the path that crosses the Enol plain. Views of the Pome beech forest. There are information boards at the viewpoint.
- Mirador del Príncipe (Municipal area of Cangas de Onís): this viewpoint is in Los Lagos, close to the Buferrera recreational area. Views of the Comeya plain. There are information boards at the viewpoint.
- Mirador de Entrelagos (Municipal area of Cangas de Onís): this viewpoint stands above the moraine that separates the Enol and La Ercina lakes and is part of the visitor route that runs between the lakes and the “Pedro Pidal” visitor centre. Spectacular views of both lakes and the Santa de Enol peak.
- Mirador de Ordiales (Municipal area of Amieva): this viewpoint is at the end of the footpath to Ordiales, which is a 3.5 hour walk from the lakes. Views of the Angón valley and the Cantabrian Mountains. The tomb of Pedro Pidal, Marquis of Villaviciosa and instigator of the Montaña de Covadonga National Park, can be found here.
- Mirador del Urriellu (Municipal area of Cabrales): on the outskirts of Bulnes, a village in Cabrales, you can reach this viewpoint by taking the route to the Pandevano pass. Views of Naranjo de Bulnes or “Picu Urriellu”.
- Mirador de Camarmeña (Municipal area of Cabrales): this viewpoint is in the village of Camarmeña, above Poncebos. Views of Naranjo de Bulnes or “Picu Urriellu”.
- Mirador del Chorco de Amieva (Municipal area of Amieva): this viewpoint is outside the National Park, but very close to the perimeter. It can be found at the end of a footpath off the road from San Román to the Angón pass and the town of Amieva. Unique views of this recently restored wolf trap and the western massif (Macizo Occidental). There is an information board at the viewpoint.
- Mirador del Pozo de la Oración (Municipal area of Cabrales): this viewpoint is outside the National Park, close to the town of Poo de Cabrales beside the AS-114 (Cangas de Onis to Panes road). Views of Naranjo de Bulnes or “Picu Urriellu”.
- Mirador de San Esteban (Municipal area of Peñamellera Baja): this viewpoint is in the foothills of the eastern massif (Macizo Oriental), beside the village of San Esteban de Cuñaba with views over the Rumenes valley.
- Mirador de Oceño (Municipal area of Peñamellera Alta): this viewpoint is beside the road from Mildón up to Oceño, off the AS-114 from Cangas de Onís to Panes. The spectacular views dominate the entire Cares valley from the west to the east.
- Mirador “Pedro Udaondo” (Municipal area of Cabrales): this viewpoint is in the town of Asiego in Cabrales, which you get to on local roads from Arenas de Cabrales. There are spectacular views of the Naranjo de Bulnes, also known as “Picu Urriellu”.
LEÓN
- Mirador de Piedrashitas (Municipal area of Posada de Valdeón): there is a path from the Panderruedas pass that takes you to the viewpoint. Spectacular views of the Valdeón valley and the western and central massifs of the Picos de Europa. At the viewpoint there is a sculpture titled “Estructura del viento” by José Luis Alonso Coomonte, a sculptor from Benavente.
- Mirador de Valdeón (Municipal area of Posada de Valdeón): this viewpoint is next to the road between Panderruedas and Posada de Valdeón. Views of the Valdeón valley and the central massif.
- Mirador del Tombo (Municipal area of Posada de Valdeón): this viewpoint is on the road from Cordiñanes to Caín. There are views of the central massif’s peaks and the Cares valley. The sculpture of the chamoix and the interpretation board showing what can be seen from the viewpoint have been created by the sculptor José Luis Alonso Coomonte.
- Mirador de Pandetrave (Municipal area of Posada de Valdeón): this viewpoint is at the top of the mountain pass of the same name. There are views of the central massif and the section of the Valdeón valley that surrounds the town of Santa Marina de Valdeón. There is an information board at the viewpoint.
- Mirador del Vallejo de la Fragua (Municipal area of Oseja de Sajambre): this viewpoint is on the N-625, in the section from Oseja de Sajambre to the Pontón mountain pass, very close to Oseja. It’s hard to imagine how this viewpoint stands above the rocky ledge, giving impressive views over the Sella valley.
- Mirador de Vista Alegre (Municipal area of Oseja de Sajambre): on the road from Oseja de Sajambre to Soto de Sajambre. Views of the Sajambre valley and the start of the Los Beyos gorge.
- Mirador de Los Porros (Municipal area of Oseja de Sajambre): this viewpoint is in Sajambre beside the track that heads up to Vegabaño from Soto de Sajambre. Spectacular views of the Sajambre valley and the wonderful forest of beech and holly trees.
- Mirador de Berrunde (Municipal area of Oseja de Sajambre): this viewpoint is on the Arcediano trail, one hour from Oseja on the route towards the Pontón mountain pass. There is an information board at the viewpoint.
CANTABRIA
- Mirador del Cable (Municipal area of Camaleño): this viewpoint is at the top cable car station, 800 m from Fuente Dé. Views of the upper Deva river basin and nearby beech forests.
- Mirador de Llesba (Municipal area of Camaleño): there is a track that starts from the San Glorio mountain pass (the N-621), which heads towards the Llesba pass. Views of the eastern massif of the Picos de Europa. There is a sculpture of a bear by Jesús Otero Oreña, a sculptor from Cantabria.
- Mirador del Balcón de Pilatos (Municipal area of Tresviso): halfway down the incredible Urdón trail from Tresviso, this viewpoint has wonderful views over the Urdón gorge and the foothills of the eastern massif facing Ándara.
- Mirador del Valle de Sobra (Municipal area of Tresviso): this viewpoint is on the road from Poncebos to Tresviso in Cantabria. There are amazing views of the eastern massif and some outstanding peaks in the central massif, as well as the beautiful Sobra valley and its traditional winter scenes.
- Mirador de Santo Toribio (Municipal area of Camaleño): this viewpoint is outside the National Park, next to the Santo Toribio de Liébana monastery. Views of the southern face of the eastern massif of the Picos de Europa.
- Mirador de Piedrasluengas (Municipal area of La Pernía (Palencia) next to Cabezón de Liébana): this viewpoint is outside the National Park in the mountain pass of the same name on the Cervera de Pisuerga (Palencia) to Ojedo and Potes road (CL-627 and CA-184). Amazing views of the eastern massif of the Picos de Europa. There is an information board at the viewpoint.
